Do you qualify for help with your electricity bills?

Do you qualify for help with your electricity bills?

The Warm Home Discount Scheme credits the electricity account of qualifying households with £140. It was introduced by the government in 2011 and will run to 2019.

People receiving the Guarantee Credit of Pension Credit will automatically receive it.

You can apply for the credit if:-

  • someone in the household is receiving income related employment and support allowance, income based jobseekers allowance, income support or universal credit and are not working or;
  • your household income is below £16,190 and a child of 5 or under, or 18 or under in full-time education lives with you or;
  • your household income is over £16,190 and you or someone living with you is receiving a disability benefit.

If you qualify the £140 (less tax) will be credited to your electricity account before the end of March 2019.

The Warm Home Discount Scheme for winter 2017 to 2018 closed on 31 March 2018. The 2018 to 2019 scheme will start on 15 October 2018.

For more details, and to apply, contact your electricity supplier by phone or online.
