Locals give a helping hand to our Dundee Laughter Club
A huge thanks go to the generosity of regulars in Fintry Powrie Bar who helped raise over £200 to support local laughter clubs at a fundraising event on Saturday 05 September. The funds held and given out by the “Sandra Maroney Memorial Fund” meant our children in the Laughter Club were able to take this large stash of toys back to our base for fun in the future.
Sandra was a local Fintry woman and she would have been delighted that her friend Mandy and others rallied round to help ‘oor bairns’.
Local kids Jamie, Connor and Casey, with the support and permission of their parents, were the stars of an informal ceremony where they composed and delivered a great speech to thank the local committee and also ended with a short expressive dance routine. Their confidence was sky high and we were rightly proud of them.
Given the early success we had in attracting new families to our evening activities, our aim is now to continue partnership work with Mandy and make the most of her offer of free premises.
Once again the time and effort of staff input into Dundee Community Family Support Project local engagement activity proves that creative partnership work and capacity building leads to direct outcomes for our users.
