OPFS Submission: Benefit sanctions policy beyond the Oakley review
Westminster’s Work and Pensions Committee decided to conduct an inquiry into benefit sanctions policy. This inquiry is considering aspects of sanctions policy which were outside the remit of the Oakley review. Benefit sanctions involve the suspension of benefit payments for a set period, where claimants “fail to meet certain conditions.”
OPFS’ submission focused on conditionality and the revised benefits sanction regime as this is an area which is impacting greatly on single parents and their children.
